战国时期，孟子的学生万章对一些历史事件有所怀疑，问汤的贤相伊尹帮助汤统一天下是否正确。孟子说伊尹帮助汤统一天下后一直在辅佐朝政，汤的孙子太甲破坏法度被伊尹流放到相邑。三年后太甲悔过自新，伊尹迎接他回来做王。
