函是（一六〇八——一六八六），字丽中，别字天然，号丹霞老人。本姓曾，名起莘。番禺人。年十七补诸生，与里人梁朝钟、黎遂球、罗宾王、陈学佺辈，并以高才纵谈时事，举明思宗崇祯六年（一六三三）乡试第二。会试不第，谒僧道独于庐山，祝发于归宗寺。既返广州，主法诃林。明亡，徙番禺雷峰，创建海云寺，举家事佛。孤臣节士，皈依者众。历主福州长庆、庐山归宗，及海幢、华首、丹霞、介庵诸刹，晚年主法雷峰。著有《瞎堂诗集》等。清陈伯陶编《胜朝粤东遗民录》卷四有传。
