李茂之，[约公元一三零二年前后在世]名里，生卒年及生平均不详。约元成宗大德中前后在世。工曲，阳春白雪中有他的散曲。 元·钟嗣成《录鬼簿》未载其名，明·朱权《太和正音谱》将其列于“词林英杰”一百五十人中。元·刘仁本《洞庭集》卷六《李荣贵 传》谓李荣贵字茂之，元末居江陵府（治所在今湖北江陵县） ，中书省宣使李荣祖之弟。 至正十二年（一 三五二）红巾军破江陵，被杀。是否就是曲家李茂之，存疑待考。
