译文
只期达到明道志，不求富贵怕偷生。
今久淡忘曾上奏，更笑求仙学道人。
才贬永州司马时，食宿不安心担惊。
先怕横遭世人议，后恐帝王赐死刑。
担心今随岁月去，闲散无事少应承。
畅游山水本所爱，排遣郁闷舒我情。
幽静石角信步至，远村长乌得空行。
茂林遮断石磴路，穿林突现平川明。
远望但见行人少，时闻田鹳三两声。
风吹竹低远水现，傲霜稻海与山平。
参与人间俗世事，更知小我身世轻。
为农确有真欢乐，居官满篇虚荣心。
朝中不乏栋梁材，但愿为国献忠诚。
我欲弃官归田园，躬耕东皋慰平生。
注释
⑴封事：奏章。
⑵升天行：指求仙学道之举。
⑶摇心：心忧不宁。
⑷天刑：朝廷的惩罚。天，上天，指朝廷，皇上。
⑸将迎：送迎。指人际交往应承。《庄子·知北游》：“无有所将，无有所迎。”
⑹风篁：风吹竹丛。篁，竹丛。
⑺稍：已，既。
⑻乔木：《孟子·梁惠王下》：“所谓故国者，非谓有乔木之谓也，有世臣之谓也。”
⑼丹诚：即赤诚。
⑽四支：即四肢。反：通返。
⑾东皋：潘岳《秋兴赋》：“耕东皋之沃壤兮”。李善注：“水田曰皋。东者，取其春意。”又，唐初王绩有战功，官至大乐丞，而自号东皋子，“挂冠归田，葛巾联牛，躬耕东皋。”

柳宗元（773年－819年），字子厚，唐代河东（今山西运城）人，杰出诗人、哲学家、儒学家乃至成就卓著的政治家，唐宋八大家之一。著名作品有《永州八记》等六百多篇文章，经后人辑为三十卷，名为《柳河东集》。因为他是河东人，人称柳河东，又因终于柳州刺史任上，又称柳柳州。柳宗元与韩愈同为中唐古文运动的领导人物，并称“韩柳”。在中国文化史上，其诗、文成就均极为杰出，可谓一时难分轩轾。
