译文
我于沉思中回首十五年间的往事，想到自己才气纵横，却屡遭挫折，辜负了自己的理想，不禁泪流满面。
春天来了，我却连一个好梦都作不成，我为自己已逝的年华忏悔，然而我不相信此生终将如此，请看我的床头放着佛经。
注释
丑奴儿令：词牌名，即“丑奴儿”，又名“采桑子”等。双调四十四字，上下片各四句三平韵。
十五年：这里指作者十八岁（嘉庆十四年，1809年）成人立志以来，到道光三年（1823年）的十五年。
箫：指赋诗忧国的哀怨幽情。剑：指报国的雄心壮志。剑态、箫心，是龚自珍诗词中经常对举出现的两个意象。
春来没个关心梦：写梦境的空虚以衬托理想的无着。关心：留心。
忏：本佛教用语，指为自陈己过，悔罪祈福。这里指对渡过的岁月感到痛惜。
请看床头金字经：是说想通过念佛经以解脱现实的处境。金字经：佛金字，指用金泥书就的文字。

丑奴儿令·沉思十五年中事创作背景
这首词当作于道光三年（1823年），这一年，龚自珍将从前的词作进行删削，最后定为《无著词选》《怀人馆词选》《影事词选》《小奢摩词选》各一卷，刻入文集中刊行。这首词所写即为删定词集后的感想。

词的上半阕，作者用了寥寥数笔，就把他从十七岁以来十五年间的坎坷经历粗略地描述了一番。用了两个“纵横”，把自己怀才不遇，箫剑双负的心情形象地表达出来。才“纵横”，是说他的才能大，泪“纵横”，是说他的悲哀多。“箫心”侧重于生活中的各种幽情亲情，“剑名”则主要是大的人生追求和志向抱负，二者“双负”，作者只赢得泪纵横。
词的下半阕，进一步写个人生活之悲：春天来时，连个关心的梦都做不成，不言没人关心自己，反言自己无倾注关心的对象；不说真实的关心，只求做个关心梦，话语中所包含的这些凄怨哀伤，是十分沉痛的。作者又巧妙地用了两个“飘零”，把自己为了功名，南北数次奔波的经历和自我安慰的复杂心情恰如其分地表现出来。看了词的最后一句话才知道，作者一生漂泊无定，如今虽有些悔怨，但他已不看重这些，因为人生本就是雪泥鸿爪，因为他已信奉了佛教。
据史料记载，龚自珍在道光三年有信佛事。他回乡后在苏州与江沅、贝墉等几个佛门俗家弟子搅到一起，还参加了拜佛诵经。在作者的许多诗歌中，都有他学佛的印记，不少佛经上的语言，被龚自珍写入诗歌中。作者实际上是想通过学佛来解脱自己考场不得意的失落，这也是当时许多失意文人的通常做法。不过，读了这首词的最末一句，往往有一种苦涩生出，让人同情作者，这正是此词的艺术魅力所在。

龚自珍（1792年8月22日～1841年9月26日）清代思想家、文学家及改良主义的先驱者。27岁中举人，38岁中进士。曾任内阁中书、宗人府主事和礼部主事等官职。主张革除弊政，抵制外国侵略，曾全力支持林则徐禁除鸦片。48岁辞官南归，次年暴卒于江苏丹阳云阳书院。他的诗文主张“更法”、“改图”，揭露清统治者的腐朽，洋溢着爱国热情，被柳亚子誉为“三百年来第一流”。著有《定庵文集》，留存文章300余篇，诗词近800首，今人辑为《龚自珍全集》。著名诗作《己亥杂诗》共315首。
