全天下各地区千万座城池，没有一座没有甲胄兵器！
怎么样才能把甲胄兵器铸作农具，让每寸土地都能够得到耕种呢？
如果能这样，耕牛尽其用，蚕桑业有成；
就再也不需要让战士们洒泪滂沱，那时全社会男耕女织，安居乐业，人们一边走，一边唱歌，是多么好啊！
注释
郡国：郡和国的并称。汉初，兼采封建及郡县之制，分天下为郡与国。郡直属中央，国分封诸王、侯，封王之国称王国，封侯之国称侯国。南北朝仍沿郡、国并置之制，至隋始废国存郡。后亦以“郡国”泛指地方行政区划。向：差不多的意思。
甲兵：铠甲和兵械。泛指兵器。《诗经·秦风·无衣》：“王于兴师，脩我甲兵，与子偕行。”
农器：农用器具。《韩诗外传》卷九：“铸库兵以为农器。”
尽：一作“得”。一本“耕”下有“田”字。
烈士：指战士。滂沱：雨大貌，这里形容落泪。
男谷女丝：即男耕女织，以名词作动词，是杜甫用字变化处。行复歌：一边走，一边唱。行复：且又。

蚕谷行创作背景
这首诗大约作于唐代宗大历元年（766年）至大历四年（769年）之间，确切年代难定，诸家说法不一。这时安史之乱基本上已扑灭，故杜甫希望战争早日停止，让战士都能解甲归田，反映了当时广大人民的愿望。

蚕谷行鉴赏
杜甫晚年创作的这首《蚕谷行》诗汇聚了他一生许多高尚的品格，这首诗可以说是杜甫一千四百多首诗中最光彩夺目的一颗瑰宝。
此诗开头四句：“天下郡国向万城，无有一城无甲兵。焉得铸甲作农器，一寸荒田牛得耕。”这是当时的实际情况，十多年的战争，使得铸作生产工具的铁都感到缺乏必须用武器来改造了。全国战乱不息，农田荒芜。诗人呼吁把甲胄铸作农具，让每寸土地都能够得到耕作，百姓安居乐业。国外有《把剑铸成犁》的现代雕塑。大诗人杜甫在一千多年以前，就已经用诗的形式把这种反战思想艺术地体现出来了。铜铁应当做成犁、锄，服务于和平生活，现在却做了杀人的武器、防身的铠甲。对这种反常现象人们已经习以为常。一经诗人点出：甲胄应铸作农具。人们才恍然大悟：原来物非所用！盔甲回炉铸而为犁、锄，使天下寸土皆得牛耕，才是物尽其用的人间正道。诗人没有直接痛斥战争，却用铠甲再造为犁锄的形象语言强化了反战思想。
这是杜甫的理想主义。这是杜甫勾画的理想时代、理想社会中劳动大众的理想生活。这首诗所显示的思想、识见，即是对陶渊明《桃花源记》耕作社会理想观念的巨大超越，同时亦是对他自身“大庇天下寒士俱欢颜”之给予受体者的舍己奉献天下士子观念的超越。杜甫在这首诗中，直接给出了一个万城无甲兵的和平构想，是一幅打着杜甫深刻印痕的理想国及和谐社会诗意安居的画图。
此诗虽短，却是杜甫五十多年生活历练由无数血泪与伤痛凝成的最后总结，它是一颗照亮历史时空的一颗诗的钻石，是杜甫和杜诗一切闪光理念的凝缩。因此，可以说《蚕谷行》一诗标志着杜甫卓苦艰辛的圣化之路的终结，标志着杜甫之所以成为诗圣的文学和文化意义的总括。

杜甫（712－770），字子美，自号少陵野老，世称“杜工部”、“杜少陵”等，汉族，河南府巩县（今河南省巩义市）人，唐代伟大的现实主义诗人，杜甫被世人尊为“诗圣”，其诗被称为“诗史”。杜甫与李白合称“李杜”，为了跟另外两位诗人李商隐与杜牧即“小李杜”区别开来，杜甫与李白又合称“大李杜”。他忧国忧民，人格高尚，他的约1400余首诗被保留了下来，诗艺精湛，在中国古典诗歌中备受推崇，影响深远。759-766年间曾居成都，后世有杜甫草堂纪念。
