孰云久闲旷，本自保知寡。
穷巷独无成，春条只盈把。
安能羡鹏举，且欲歌牛下。
乃知古时人，亦有如我者。

译文
谁说我长久以来都十分清闲，本来就是因为能赏识我的人太少。
我身居陋巷，却没有什么成就，就像细小的树枝一样，没有什么枝叶。
怎能一味羡慕显达之人，暂且先在牛车下放声高歌吧。
我知道古代的人，也有像我一样的呀！
注释
孰云：谁说。闲旷：清闲。
保：守。知寡：知我者稀少。
穷巷：偏僻的里巷，陋巷。
春条：幼树。盈把：一手可握，指细小。
鹏举：喻指仕进。典出《庄子·逍遥游》。
歌牛下：指在牛车下放声高歌的宁戚。

高适是我国唐代著名的边塞诗人，世称“高常侍”。 作品收录于《高常侍集》。高适与岑参并称“高岑”，其诗作笔力雄健，气势奔放，洋溢着盛唐时期所特有的奋发进取、蓬勃向上的时代精神。
