祝英台近·惜多才鉴赏
这是封建社会中比较常见的爱情悲剧。复古隐瞒了家中娶妻的实情，而富象翁又因爱戴之才将女许之，婚后二人产生了爱情，女方尤其炽烈。所以，当三年之后，戴如实告以真情并不得不舍妻归去时，其妻不仅婉言劝父，且以所有装奁赠夫并以身殉情。此词是戴复古妻诀别丈夫之际所作。以词情与本事相印证，则此词实为其生命与爱情之绝笔，显然比戴词更为感动人心。
“惜多才，怜薄命，无计可留汝。”起笔三句，即说尽全部悲剧。这里的“多才”不仅指富于才华的人，它也是宋元俗语，男女用以称所爱的对方。这里是戴复古妻用以称其夫。父亲爱复古之才，以女儿嫁之。这在现代人看来已有荒谬意味，更离奇的是婚后女儿竟深深爱上了复古，这是幸事还是不幸？谁料到丈夫竟然已结过婚！这个消息无异于五雷轰顶，但事到如今，自己仍然爱你，只能自伤命薄，尽管千方百计要挽留你，却无法挽留下你。“揉碎花笺，忍写断肠句。”作者说：在这诀别之际，展开花笺，又揉碎花笺，怎能忍心写下让人肝肠寸断的诀别辞句？揉碎二字，将女词人与丈夫诀别之际痛苦无奈的心情展现无遗。所揉碎者，非花笺，乃心也。“道旁杨柳依依，千丝万缕，抵不住、一分愁绪。”此四句写至眼前分手之情景。道旁杨柳依依，就像那惜别之情，依依不舍。此句用《诗经·采薇》“昔我往矣，杨柳依依”成句，亦是用乐景写哀。“千丝万缕，抵不住、一分愁绪”，愁绪却比柳丝多上千万倍。此三句一气流贯，比兴高妙，委婉而深沉地表现了缱绻柔情与无限悲伤，确是词中不可多得的佳句。
“如何诉。便教缘尽今生，此身已轻许。”这几句是说：事至今日，从何说起？又有何可说？今生今世，夫妻缘分，从此结束。是父亲当初把我轻率地许配给你啊。这对于我，是可喜还是可哀之事？末句哀而不怨，甚可玩味。女词人对丈夫仍然是爱的。如果有怨，恐怕主要也不是怨丈夫之不诚，不是怨父亲之作主，而是自怨命薄，如起笔之所言。这正是性情柔厚的女词人当时应有之心态。实际上，事到如今，怨又有何用？“捉月盟言，不是梦中语。”言简情长，说得十分深刻。意思是：当年你曾说，只要我喜欢，连天上的月亮你都能摘下来送给我，这可不是作梦时的梦话啊！可仅仅三年，誓言竟已成空。紧接着，结曰：“后回君若重来，不相忘处，把杯酒、浇奴坟土。”作者说：今日一别，便是永诀。只希望你若重来此地，如未忘情，请把一杯酒浇在我的坟土上。意谓：你若不忘记我，我在九泉之下，也就可以瞑目了。结笔所提出的唯一要求，凝聚着女词人执着热烈的爱，高于生命的爱。情之所钟，可以震撼人心。
戴复古妻无疑具有高尚的德性：善良、宽容、坚贞。她对于爱情生死不渝的态度，决不仅仅是由于从一而终的道德观念，更重要的是基于自己纯洁挚烈的爱情本身。在她的心灵中，人的一生只能有一次真爱。
这种想法让人觉得可敬、可哀，又可叹！此词有真挚的感情作底蕴，艺术上也比较成熟。上片比兴自然高妙，下片语言晓畅自然，全篇意极凝重而辞气婉厚，回环诵读，令人不忍释卷，不愧为词中之一杰作。
